Bansh-eman Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 i want to test the differance in spark energy from a stock coil to after market coils. i would like too see if the nology or msd or dyna coils actually do deliver a better spark. Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 They do, Dyno Dave has already checked it out. Quote
FireHead Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 i want to test the differance in spark energy from a stock coil to after market coils. i would like too see if the nology or msd or dyna coils actually do deliver a better spark. How are you going to test that???? (keep in mind I know how to do it) (I also have smart ass way already thought up as a way for you to test it) Quote
FireHead Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 They do, Dyno Dave has already checked it out. How did he test it? :geek: Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 DYNO DAVE = He put it on the DYNO! It made a difference. He is a crafty little bugger, so I am sure he did something else to measure some sort of electrical output from it too. Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Asked him numbers today. 3/4 hp more with a nology coil across the board compared to the stock tecate 250 coil. Quote
jesse1004 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 no it doesnt eliminate the plate, i run both. the plate is a static advance doent go up or down with the curve, where the dyna adjusts the advance though the rpm range... i run mine at _4 on the plate and curve 3 for the most advanced at low rpms Is that -4 on the timing plate? And also what are the switch positions for curve 3? lost my book. Quote

On the other hand, I am sure he did not measure the actual output of the coils. It's one of those things that requires some knowledge and some expensive equipment to do properly. With out having tested the coils myself, .75hp over an OEM Tecate coil is easily plausible. :geek: Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Dave is a Boeing QC inspector that worked on the stealth project. I am gonna roll with what he says and not worry about it too much. Quote
jmd0346 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 If I had someone to re-program mine Id use it. I run it on the stock setting and run a timing plate. I lost the info that told me the curves. I dont really trust the guy anymore that said he programmed it either. He said it was custom but for all I know its all the curves it comes with. Anybody know where to find that info? Out the box curves? Quote

I think Ive looked that up before but wasnt sure if it was what I had or he loaded something diferent on it. i doubt he reloaded it, but the only way to be 100% sure is to flash it back to the stock loads with the software. Yeah thats what Id like to do. I dont feel like chancing it. Snop you have the program kit? What would it take to get mine right? Quote
