P-man Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) Hey guys, I recently purchased an 02 Banshee off of craigslist and it seems to be having a shifting problem. It shifts up fine most of the time but when downshfting it just pushes down and does not shift, When this happens, I have to pull up slightly on the shifter and then press down again and then it will go down one gear, then I have to repeat the process. Any suggestions? It feels like some kind of linkage problem or something. One of the previous owners did lot of sand dragging with it if that means anything. Maybe that messed it up or something, IDK Thanks for the help! Edited March 4, 2008 by P-man Quote
procharged540 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 hey it sounds like the shifting shaft is bent and it tries to hang up when shifting I had to replace mine in my old banshee it was right under $40.00 Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Sounds like you bought an abused bike. you can pull the clutch side cover off and check the action of the shifter. but I think you have a worn out shift drum and possibly bent shift forks. I hope it is something simple for you. good luck Quote

Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 to replace the forks you need to split the case. I have experienced that when you bend a shift fork you damage the drum. Quote
