NitroTate Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hey guys quick question... I think I'm ok but I just installed new seals on my crank after having it welded and reassembled the cases last night. The crank is moving nice and freely but is just a tad bit tighter than before which I'm thinking is just because of new seals and that the old ones were a little loose from being old. Sound correct? man27 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think if there's any friction at all don't run it!!!!!!! :shoothead: Find the problem it should be free....... :: Quote

Did you putsome of youre premix on all of the bearings? In the holes to lube up the journals? It should be free..... Keep spinnin it by hand see whats up. Quote
uwenr Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Had the same problem it ended up being the little tabs on the bearings didnt line up exactly in the cases and a little drag when all done. Long story short ran it and found out the hard way 4 hours away at the dunes after 10 minutes of riding. Quote

Does the friction feel like something is binding, or just that the seals are dry and the rubber is dragging a bit? :geek: Quote
NitroTate Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 (edited) Does the friction feel like something is binding, or just that the seals are dry and the rubber is dragging a bit? :geek: It only feels like the rubber is a bit dry and dragging is all, nothing grinding or binding at all and I made sure all the pins were in place. I DID lube the seals so I think shees ok I just need to be real careful when I get the motor ready for starting and make sure the oil is full and everything is wet in there because it's bone dry right now from the rebuild. I spoke to Jeff from FAST as well as Jared (bigred350x) and they both have dealt with this before also and said I'm probably ok. I'm just going to be very careful prior to starting. Yeah, I think you are probably fine. New, dry seals can add alot of drag initially on a new engine assembly. :geek: Quote
