banshee_guy_05 Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 hey all. I have been running toomy t-6 pipes throughout my entire build of my bike over the past two years. And i was just curious since teh t-6 are more for a stock bike, how much is it actually hurting me? my set up is trinity stage 4, 2 into 1 35mm carb trail port and polish cool head with 19cc or 20cc domes, i dont remember lol k&n with outerwear filter timing plate advanced to 3 degrees v-force 3 reeds 12t front sprocket Now im jetted at 190 main and its really strong and runs great but it seems to be short in the low to mid range. I know the t-6s are more for a stock bike so with my mods is it really holding me back. and if so, would you recomment a t-5 or a cpi pipe? Im looking for more low -mid range grunt. Im trying to make my quad as smoothe as possible because i trail ride alot but i still get out and play on a mx track and hill climb. My problem now is that as soon as i let off the clutch i just spin and spin until about 3rd! Also i have read a few places on here about changing the needle in the 2 into 1 carb and Im not sure if i need to do that or even where to get one? Thanks! Quote
banshee_guy_05 Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 I have also noticed that alot of the guys on banshee's that i see at tracks are running pro circuit and fmf sst and fatty pipes. is there any reason for this? Thanks! Quote
dajogejr Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Wanting more mid-to low end grunt is NOT going to be accomplished by CPI or T5. get FMF or Pro Circuits if that's what you're looking for. With all that porting, a low end pipe and a 1 into 2 carb, that's choking your motor.... But if you trail and MX, you don't need to rev to the moon... Quote
banshee_guy_05 Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 hey thanks alot. I have spend the past 4 hours searching and searching trying to find a better setup and i think i have decided on the fmf gnarly. I posted an add to see if someone had a set to trade me but i looked at the fmf website and it sais Our Gnarly pipes have been developed and tested for the off-roader in mind. With thicker 18g steel construction, it will take the punishment you can throw at it. This pipe will shift and increase the power band so that it comes on sooner, pulls harder through the mid and smoothes out the high RPM surge. This was once called our Torque pipe, but it did not include the thicker steel construction. And i mainly ride with 400ex's and 450's so i think that would really help me out! But now im in the process of searching for a gearing setup. Right now i have a stock sized rear sprocket and a 12t front but will i still just spin through all the gears if i keep that gear setup with a new pipe? Quote
Fireroad Express Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) try dmc 916s or aliens.the gnarly's are good too. they both have a good low end torque and great mid range. you definately need to lose that 12T front sprocket or you'll never hook up. at least go back to the stock gearing set up.this also depends upon how much you weigh and tire size. banshee_guy_05 Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 Im running 20inch tires in the back. I put the 12 tooth because i really had to rev it to take off and there was no in between. With the 12t it really worked well with my setup now but if i get a better low end pipe i will go back to stock gearing. Quote
