basic stroker questions
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah that sounds great. I had no idea you did so much machine work and everything. Ill deffinately be in touch with you after christmas! thanks -
hey all, i have been searching and asking questions to everyone i can think of and i think i finally decided i want to go with a 4mill stroker motor. Now i have a few questions that you guys may be able to answer. I want to make alot of low-mid range power without hurting my top end power. My cylinders have already had a mild trail/mx port and work great so far and are really smoothe. I am going to go with the hot rods stroker crank with wiseco stroker crank pistons. First question is do i have to have that spacer plate? Secondly do i need to re-port my cylinders? and last what is the best pipe for me to use? I am running gnarly's right now and like them but am not totally inlove with them so im thinking of going another way. didnt know if one was better for the stroker?

need some help from you modded banshee guys!
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
can you put a 4mill crank on a ported motor? I was under the impression you couldnt because of the change in port timing? I hear that alot that 4 strokes have grunt and 2 strokes have hp and thats fine and also true but i have a 400ex and a yfz along with my banshee and my banshee is by far the funnest and the fastest to ride but where i ride im ususally on and off the throttle and i want that hit to come from bottum to mid range. Top end speed is great i just dont really have it wide open all that much. Its just kinda my project so i try and see what i can make it. Im pretty sure i am going back to the t-5s though. Also will having the dual carbs take away my "dead spot" in the mid range? Thanks -
hey all, i have a 98 banshee that i absolutely love. its my baby but its getting a little old for me. At one time it was the fastest thing i had ever road and now im kinda bored. My question is what should my next mod be? So far i have tried to kinda build it for low end grunt and excelleration because thats what really thrills me the most. I dont usually ride in sand but i climb alot of hills and play around on mx tracks and stuff. I also like to trail ride alot. So far to the engine i have New top end adjustable stator set at +3 i think it was b-cool head with 19cc domes ported head with an agressive trail port trinity 2 into 1 carb set up with the 33mm carb and k&n v-force 3 reeds had toomy t-6 pipes but changed to fmf gnarly's. actually kinda like them but might switch to t-5's or dmc have it geared down a tooth i believe it was to gimme a little more low end. suspension wise i have a full set of elkas i have kenda claw rear tires and maxis razr fronts. Not sure what else to do. I run 93 octane fuel as is and i dont really want to go more than that. I was thinking about going with a big bore kit but have heard alot of bad about them. So what do you guys think? What kinda mods do you have that you like? Thanks!

banshee is a 98. It has fmf gnarly pipes that are almost brand new, new dirt digger clutch, new rear kenda claw tires on douglas blue label beedlock full house etched wheels, frame was just painted last winter with a jet black paint and rock hard clear cloat, has full skid plates, full elka suspension, top end has been ported and polished and is on its 1st overbore that was done last winter, fmf handle bars, v-force 3 reeds, trinity stage 4 intake and 2 into 1 carb, b-cool head with 20cc domes, adjustable stater, k&n filter and outerwear, and a brand new blingstar iron cross bumper, and ac nerf bars, Moose racing throttle and clutch lever, Im sure there is more but thats all i can think of. I have over $5k invested into aftermarket parts alone. Bought it for $3,000 3 years ago. So I have a total of $8,000 invested in 3 years. You will not be dissapointed. Its extremely fast and runs amazing. I really hate to let it go but im not in a position right now that i can keep it. Like said i will trade it for a sport bike that gets good fuel mileage. Thanks!

The first owner actually got deported to germany and the second owner was a cop that bought it at a police auction and 3rd is me so i dont think its hard to get a title. its all legal and everything. -

hey all. I have a 98 banshee i think i might sell or trade for a milder 4-stroke and some cash. Im buying a new house so I need all the cash i can get. Quad has been well maintained and barely ridden and has almost 5000$ in reciepted aftermarket parts. I can post some pics but i just got the frame painted and its almost together. List of mods. ac nerf bars and full skid plates brand new o-ring chain Brand new FMF Gnarly Pipes and silencers full elka suspension and shock covers moose racing handle bars and carbon fiber hand guards trinity stage 4 intake trinity stage 4 2 into 1 carb trinity stage 4 air box kit with K&N and outerwear trinity stage 4 port and bore job (1st over bore) V-force 3 reeds B-Cool head with 20cc domes and brand new O-Rings Adjustable timing plate New stator and coil Brand new dirt digger clutch kit and cable Moose racing throttle and cable Team alba racing graphics kit and Ceet gripper seat cover DG Bumpers front and back Engine has a brand new chrome allen bolt kit Hinson brake lever Brand new douglas front wheels Brand new douglas full house etched beedlocks with a wider offset Brand new kenda claw rear tires. Motor has less than a year on an entire new wiseco top end, brand new hot rod crank, and all brand new bearings and seals. Maybe 15 hours on it. I just have no time to ride and i dont like to ride it its cold or wet. I just got the frame, a-arms, swing arm, and wheels painted a custom jet black with 6 coats of rock hard clear on them so it looks amazing. Has grey and yellow plastic. Frame has all new bearings, seals and bushings. I can send pics within the next day or 2. I am looking to get $3300 out of it or trade for a good condition 4 stroke and some cash. This quad is outragously fast and i just want something i can just putt around on and play with. Any questions feel free to e-mail! Let me know if anyone is interested and i can send out some pics!

New fmf exhaust rubs my radiator hose!
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Ill give it a try in the morning and ill let you know how it works! Thanks! -
Hey all. i just got a new set of fmf gnarly pipes for my banshee and they rub the radiator hose coming out of the water pump. i have it routed and zip tied out of the way from everything else but it just barely sits on the pipe just where it come out of the pump. Anyone else have this problem? Does it get hot enough to burn throught the hose? Any quick and easy fixes? I have seen most aftermarket radiator hose sets are around 80-90 bucks and i hate to spend that kind of money on something i dont really need. Thanks alot!

Toomy t-6 exhaust for sale or trade!
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
that sounds great. ill send out pics in just a second! The t-6's have a TON of high mid to high end power and actually have more low end than the t-5's but the t-5's actually respond better to like a high compression motor or porting it. These were the pipes that the guys at trinity racing recomended because at the time i was just going to a 2 into 1 carb and v-force reeds and a cool head. But on my last tear down i actually ported the motor and everything and did a few more mods and i never touch sand and i never drag race and these pipes really stand out in that. I need a great low end pipe with torque and grunt because i play on mx tracks and i ride in trails and woods and i ride with nothing but four stroke. -
Are my toomy t-6's choking my motor?
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Im running 20inch tires in the back. I put the 12 tooth because i really had to rev it to take off and there was no in between. With the 12t it really worked well with my setup now but if i get a better low end pipe i will go back to stock gearing. -
Are my toomy t-6's choking my motor?
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
hey thanks alot. I have spend the past 4 hours searching and searching trying to find a better setup and i think i have decided on the fmf gnarly. I posted an add to see if someone had a set to trade me but i looked at the fmf website and it sais Our Gnarly pipes have been developed and tested for the off-roader in mind. With thicker 18g steel construction, it will take the punishment you can throw at it. This pipe will shift and increase the power band so that it comes on sooner, pulls harder through the mid and smoothes out the high RPM surge. This was once called our Torque pipe, but it did not include the thicker steel construction. And i mainly ride with 400ex's and 450's so i think that would really help me out! But now im in the process of searching for a gearing setup. Right now i have a stock sized rear sprocket and a 12t front but will i still just spin through all the gears if i keep that gear setup with a new pipe? -
Toomy t-6 exhaust for sale or trade!
banshee_guy_05 posted a topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
hey all. i have a set of toomy t-6's for sale or trade. I love these pipes and they sound great but i want something more in the low end spectrum. I have a modified motor now and want the most grunt i can get. These pipes have an great low end and an insane mid to top pull! they are in great condition with no scuffs or dents or anything. They have a little blueing at the head but not bad at all. They are less than a year old and have never seen snow or rain. Still have a perfect finish! They have one small chip on the pipe but you would never notice unless you were ontop of it. If you are interested shoot me an e-mail with an offer. I am willing to trade for a great condition set of fmf gnarly's or paul turner mids or really anything you have in good shape that have a low end grunt! Im not sure how much these go for but on ebay they are about 350 or so. I will sell or trade both pipes and silencers. I have pics but they are too big to fit on here. Let me know and ill e-mail pics! Thanks! -
Are my toomy t-6's choking my motor?
banshee_guy_05 replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I have also noticed that alot of the guys on banshee's that i see at tracks are running pro circuit and fmf sst and fatty pipes. is there any reason for this? Thanks! -
hey all. I have been running toomy t-6 pipes throughout my entire build of my bike over the past two years. And i was just curious since teh t-6 are more for a stock bike, how much is it actually hurting me? my set up is trinity stage 4, 2 into 1 35mm carb trail port and polish cool head with 19cc or 20cc domes, i dont remember lol k&n with outerwear filter timing plate advanced to 3 degrees v-force 3 reeds 12t front sprocket Now im jetted at 190 main and its really strong and runs great but it seems to be short in the low to mid range. I know the t-6s are more for a stock bike so with my mods is it really holding me back. and if so, would you recomment a t-5 or a cpi pipe? Im looking for more low -mid range grunt. Im trying to make my quad as smoothe as possible because i trail ride alot but i still get out and play on a mx track and hill climb. My problem now is that as soon as i let off the clutch i just spin and spin until about 3rd! Also i have read a few places on here about changing the needle in the 2 into 1 carb and Im not sure if i need to do that or even where to get one? Thanks!
