Start with about 70 to 80 per tire or so.

You want to make sure they picks are out of align so that when they hit the ice, they're not digging at the same patch, if that makes sense.... Off set one in front of the other by a solid 1/4 to 1/2 inch...

I only have 48 picks (sharp) per rear tire, but I have 14 over on my 10 mil, you see how bad it fries those tires till third gear...

I just finished my second set of ice tires, I can grab ya some pics of them tonight if ya want.

I have had good luck with a 2-3 pattern, 3 studs in one row, 2 studs in the next, 3 in the next etc.....

I am gonna try 70 per tire this year. I will be out this weekend to try them out. I will let ya know how it goes.

Yep...

My Holeshot XCRs are shaved down, and my friend put picks all the way across on the rows of three. If he would've put them in between on the rows of 2, I think my tires would be damn near perfect...

1996...where'd you get chisels? JT...didn't you say you found a deal? Oh well, never mind, I got one more ice race this weekend then it's tear down anywho.

JT...I'll be at the bay...c'mon out if ya want!

sweet, thanks guys.i thought about maybe a 4/3 pattern too but let me know how them hook up JT,and if u get around to taking a few pics cool.

dave i goy them off ebay.payed 100 bucks for 144 with alluminum backers all like new! couldnt pass it up.dude even threw in about 25 or so new picks with all. backers just for the hell of it

another question..what about installing them?i gotta buddy that put washers on em that he said over lap eachother in a certain way so they dont flex (inside of tires obviously).and these little 1 inch or so heads on the chisels, are they gonna stay in the tires without ripping out of the rubber or should i run washers? i ran picks before and ripped almost evry one of them out of my tires :whistling:
