hollisatp Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Hey all.. I just rebuilt my motor and wanted to know if I can check the compression now or if the rings have to seat before I can check it?? Will the comp go up or down? Quote

The compression should improve after the engine is broke in and the rings have seated. Quote

hollisatp Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 ?? why would I want to do that?? Quote
yamaha04 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 im not 100% sure on why you need to hold the throttle but its just something you have to do lol. turn your gass of and i take both plugs out. makes it easyer to kick over. btw kick until your guage doesnt move any higher. Quote

I would guess you need to hold the throttle open so the cyls can suck in enough air to fill them, thus building the correct amount of pressure. If they couldn't suck in all the air they wanted (slides closed) you'd get a skewed (low) compression reading. Quote
