Nitmare67 Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I currently run 18cc domes (180 psi approx) and +4 timing on a woods ported 350cc motor. I always run straight vp110 fuel mixed 40:1. With my current pipe combo Paul Turner Mids I am thinking that more timing might be better. PTR mids are not a top end pipe as it is so if I lose a bit on the over rev for more power everywhere else it wouldnt matter. Anyone else here running more than +4 degrees on a trail ridden bike? I don't know how far you want to push it. That's a lot of compression to be throwing more timing at on a trail bike. When she gets good and hot on slower sections you might start running into detonation issues. If you do, you better check your plugs frequently for the first while to monitor it. just my .02 Edited February 9, 2008 by slobanshee06 Quote

That's impressive, The point is your margin for tuning error gets smaller and smaller the more comp and timing you throw at an engine. Your tune has to be on the gnats ass to run it that way. Quote
shanYE west Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I ran 7 advance on my dune motor with 19cc domes. I always used sunoco 110 fuel. Never had any tuning issues or detonation problems. I would think you'd be safe.. But its your motor not ours... Quote
Nitmare67 Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 I run straight 110 and have never had detonation problems yet. My radiator is always clear and I run straight engine ice not to mention having the cool head so no heating problems here yet. I think I might try 5 degrees then maybe 6 and see how it runs. Its pretty easy to adjust so I will probley give it a shot. Quote
spike Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 I run 8* advance on all my engines, my 350 drag ported last year and my 4 mil dune port this year. makes a good diference from +4 I always ran strait avgas or 60/40 110/91 with 165 psi in both engines Quote
