shanet1975 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Morning....I currently have a 99 KX 250 with a pipe, reeds, renthal bars, graphics kit tec. Nice looking race ready 2 stroke mx bike. I have a guy that wants to trade a 98 Banshee with a fresh top end, brand new pfp pipe and silencers. The plastics are original and a bit ratty and everything else seems to be a o k. I was at first looking into getting a 4 stroke like a z400 or a predator, but his came along. I will be doing trail riding, hoping to get to a track and some pits. I live in Mass so there isn't any sand dunes or anything like that that the shee is made for I hear. Would this be worth it? I was also thinking that the shee would sell quicker and for a bit more $ so even if I trade to sell or trade for another qaud. As you can see I am quite confused. Any input would be great. Yay or nay??? Quote
theshee Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 You said you will ride mx and trails? If that is what you plan to do get a yfz-450 or an ltr-450. They are made for that kind of riding and come from the factory ready for it. Quote
shanet1975 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 A bit pricy though...So the Banshee is no good in either category?? Quote
smokin 2 stroke Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 if u mx and trails i would get a 400 not a 450.. 400 are near bullet proof bike..450 whole nother story Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 well. if u think you will not lose any money i would go ahead and trade. try the banshee out, if u dont like it sell it and get something else. just my .02 Quote
theshee Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 if u mx and trails i would get a 400 not a 450.. 400 are near bullet proof bike..450 whole nother story not sure about that... on a track or trail if you want to go fast at all a 450 will simply murder a 400, and the suspension is made for that type of riding from the showroom floor. shanet- not saying the banshees are no good for it, but there will have to be a lot of suspension changes to make a banshee suitable for mx riding. shanet1975 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the advice. It's just Shane....The T is for my last name I'll give it a shot. What kind of suspension work is needed to get the shee mx ready? And trail ready. Other than just being super fast is that only thinkg that makes it not so good for trails? Even if you change sprockets??? Quote
theshee Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Im no MX rider, but i have read in the MX topic here and they talk about how the suspension needs changed all the time. Go down there to the MX forum on here and it will be more helpful. Quote
kawiking Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 if your tired of your bike .id trade !! but for the riding u do the 400-450 category would be better. save up and get a 400-450 later if thats possible. i love my shee, but it pretty much goes strait. i play alittle on it. my kfx 400 is my real play/trail bike. shanet1975 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the advice. Seems like I'd be better off with a 400 or 450, but I will try the shee and see how shee does... Quote
nayr742003 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I ride my shee in the woods all the time and do alot of trails and hill climbs i even did a few GNCC races this year with it and i kept up with all the 400-450,s my best friend has a yzf 450 and he will tell you im hard to catch when im in front on the trails its all in what kind of riding you do and like but if your tired of your bike get that shee and you wont regret it at all Quote
shanet1975 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 That is true. You can pretty much make any bike into what you want with aftermarkte parts. For the most part anyway. I'll give it a go. Thanks again... Quote
