Im putting together a nice dunner.Cylinders bored 1 over stock,The cylinders have a pretty healthy port job,Vitos Fat Bastard inframes and 35 airstrikers,20cc coolhead with stock ignition and wiseco pistons stock crank and rods.Im waiting for the coolhead to get here and the exhaust just orderd of ebay.The cylinders are on and need to know if I will need to run 110 and will the timming plate need to be changed to an adjustable one?If so what should it be set at?Thanks JB

What's your elevation. And you really need to do a compression test to tell exactly what that is before you can tell if you need race gas or not. If it's above 150 I would at least mix it 50/50 just to be sure.

 

As for the adjustable timing plate, it would be good to have one, but no it is not a necessary part.

Like already stated, do a compression check. When doing the compression check, make sure to hold the throttle wide open while kicking fast several times to get a true reading, but with the ignition off to make sure the other cylinder does not start. The number my group uses for pump fuel is anything under 160 PSI. As for timing, an adjustable timing plate set to + 4 is safe for pump fuel and will give you another pony or two. Beyond + 4, and you may have issues with detonation requiring race fuel. Also, if you are going to do a timing change, make sure you ar not using anything else that changes the timing, such as a dyna ignition or an offset flywheel key (degree key). If you want to change your timing and are on a tight budget, you can whip out the dremel and modify the mounting screw holes on the stock timing plate to get about + 3 or + 4 out of it.
