is this possible, i never jetted with pipes, the bike still runs great, seams to run a little leaner, but silencers are still smokin theres still signs of gas and oil on the plug, starts 1st or 2nd kick everytime ? why is this, pipes are fmf fattys with Q silensers, also has k&N

if you had stock pipes before dont run the bike and jet it. if you just switched pipes and you had some aftermarket before then chances are the jetting is a little off. i would go to the fmf site figure out what jetting to use and do it either way. your taking a major risk right now and its probably not going to turn out good. you can also tell use what kinda mods you have and your elevation and someone should be able to get you straight on jetting

In fact, when the jetting is lean I think it usually runs the best it ever has....then seizes!!

A perfectly tuned bike is on the edge, albeit a very thin one, of being lean. That's when it makes the most power.

I don't dance on that line...I keep my bike a little like me, a little fat, a little happy....

I had my shee dynoed and jetted I had a K&N filter with airbox etc but now I am running 2 pods straight off the carbs, do you guys think I am lean?

Yes. Removing the airbox and slapping pods on there will need 1-3 bigger mains. You're not severely lean...but keep in mind, it only takes one bad revolution of the motor for shit to break....and at 9 to 10K RPM, that's a lot of spinning...:)

You just have to remember the simple basics of the motor....

It gets ALL it's lubrication from the fuel. Lean fuel air means less lubrication, too.

Your 4 poke gets fed oil a different way. Not that being lean is much better...but, I think you understand.

Run a 4 poke out of fuel, not a big deal...run a two stroke out....well, you ran it out of fuel and starved it for oil all in one...that's all!!!

I concur!!!!!

Preach Brother, I do the same with mine

yeah running it dry isnt all that good. the oil in the gas it the pistons and clyinders only lube. if your just putting through the trail and it starts to bogits not good but i probably wornt hurt it much. if its done alot then yeah im sure there could be problems.i would be more worried about running out going wide open down a strip or on the road.
