Guys i am purchasing an adjustable time plate. I have between 150 and 160 psi compression with a wiseco stroker engine. Can i run 93 octane fuel with a 5 degree advance? what is the cutoff of degrees before i get to race gas? Thanks guys.

i have a little lower compression around 150-155 and i am mixing 2 gal 100 octane with 3 gal 93 octane and that might be a little overkill. with 160 octane i think you should prob. do the same or similar to what i am. it works out to be right around 96 octane. Just my opinion.

There is no set rule or measurements. I can tell you by common experience, you are at the edge of pump gas/race gas needs...

I would set it at 4, and keep a very good eye on your plugs and listen to your engine.

Some will say "I run 190 PSI with 12 degrees of timing on 87 octane gas and I have for years"....good for them. They very well may....but unless THEY want to rebuild YOUR engine from their OWN pockets, I try to give safe advice....and leave the final say and tuning tips to the end user as they see fit. for their own unique engine in their own environment....
