mgrey Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 has anyone ever heard their reeds making noise...i'm hearing , like a plastic flapping sound and i cant tell where exactly it's coming from ? the sound gets very faint after an idleing warm up.and the reeds have been in for a season and a half .just boyesen power reeds . I can hear mine at idle but I have pod filters off the carb I dont know if you can hear it with a bike with with a airbox but I guess it just depends on how loud your pipes are :biggrin: Quote

Last time and the only time i ever heard the reeds making noise i had one that had rattled loose. So i wood pull your reeds and cheack to see if one is loose. if thy are pull the skrus out and put some tread lock on them then tighten them up. Chevshee Quote
FireHead Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 A normal reed opening and closing event, assuming the reeds are not worn out and have not broken, should not be audible. It happens too quickly to make a discernable sound. If you can hear them, there is more than likely something wrong. A simple brank case compression test should tell the tale......... :geek: Quote
