atvfreestylekid Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 I need a rough idea on what size jets and what needle clip position. My mods are in my sig and will be running 32:1 on the pre-mix. Stock carbs with 280 mains, middle clip, and idk what pilots. Where are the pilot jets located? Do they have the size stamped on them? Thanks Quote
brian Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 the pilot is down in that small port right in front of the main tube. and yes, the size is stamped on them. man, youre adding alot of motor to those stock carbs. i assume it is a 4mil stroker.....yes? your sig says nothing about the porting you will be needing to go along with that crank. or the coolhead and stroker cut domes you'll need as well. assuming that you are planning all of those mods, you probably wont be able to flow enough thru those carbs to get all of the potential out of that new motor. you'll probably need to step up to 33mm carbs. if not changing the carbs youll probably need to start with your mains at 340-350 and the needle at 4th groove. not sure about the pilot. probably two-three sizes larger tho. brian Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 and....... oh yeah, pitch that boost bottle in the f'n trash can. Quote
atvfreestylekid Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 and.......oh yeah, pitch that boost bottle in the f'n trash can. Yeah. As soon as i find a stock crossover, that piece of shit is going to be melted down. Came on the quad when I got it 2yrs ago. On my 3rd set of intakes. I'm in the market for a crossover. As for the mods, I'm using the spacer plate instead of cut domes. It makes up for the extra stroke as well as raises the jugs which raises the ports to where they are supposed to be. As for the carbs, I'll just have them ported like that guy with the 135mph shee on ebay  . J/K. Thanks for the info. I'll get some more jets. I can't afford bigger carbs right now. Just dropped $650 on this stroker. All because a $20 rod bearing let go . They are a near future mod though. Start out at 340 mains and work my way up? Also, what are you calling the main tube. Sorry, I know very little about motorcycle carbs. Oh, yeah it's a 4 mill by the way. Thanks Quote
atvfreestylekid Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 Way off topic brian, but what quad is your son riding in that pic? Quote
brian Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 thats a 300ex with race plastics. it's the bike he started out on 3 yrs ago. i can't afford another banshee yet. well, the wife says our relationship cant afford another banshee. lol but i'll get her broke in yet. the main tube is in the middle (also called the emulsion tube). it is what the main jet screws into, and where the needle rides. where are you located ? air temp ? i think i have a crossover tube layin around somewhere. if i find it you can have it. i'll look tomorrow. atvfreestylekid Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 Is it the one you use a little flat head screw driver to remove? I did not see any numbers on it. I'm sure it is the one that came with the toomey kit for the t5's. if the kit came with pilots. Do shops usualy stock jets or will i need to order them? Oh, and thanks for the offer on the crossover but I just bought a set of intakes on ebay that came with stock reeds and a crossover. I bought a set from a member on here but he mistakenly sent them to the wrong person and I can't get a hold of him. So i just bought a new set. I realy appreciate the offer though. You need some stock reeds? I will now have 3 complete sets of stock reeds. Thanks again. Quote
atvfreestylekid Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 Just checked elevation and im at 700-800ft. For now it is aroun40 degres out. But it's texas. It could be 90 in a couple of days . Quote
brian Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 yeah, i would start around 330. you'll probably work down from there without all the extra porting. yes. the pilot is the one you need a small flathead driver for. i have not seen the toomey jets before, so i don't really know. i dont think they include pilots tho. it's really crazy that they are not marked. i usually just buy a few different sizes of what i'll need from a local shop. you could call Jeff at FAST and explain what your doing and he will help you with the range of sizes he thinks you'll need. atvfreestylekid Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 i can't afford another banshee yet.well, the wife says our relationship cant afford another banshee. lol but i'll get her broke in yet. I say get the kid a shee and stick the wife on the EX  . Then she can join the club. I think it is f'n awesome that you and your son ride together. My dad is always "too buisy". He bought an old kawasaki 250 3-wheeler to ride and has rode it twice. That was 4 years ago. He'll be watching tv and I'll be like "dad, let's go knock the dust off of the kawi". And he will make somthing up so that he can't go ride. Like the tires are dry rotted and cracked so they have to be aired up every 30 min. So he can't ride it. Plus he has "better" things to do. I'm like shit, I'm 16 and we have never done a thing together. I pretty much tought myself how to ride. He showed me how to use the clutch when I was like 4. I've been on my own ever since. Well, my mom was always watching me when I rode, up until i was about 7. I'm still trying to get her into it. . I've rode alone on our farm so long that I have kinda adapted. My shee is my only true friend. It's never too buisy for me  . Tell your son I said he is lucky  Quote
brian Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 too bad youre all the way in texas. i'd go ride with ya. sounds like youre a real good kid. i'm sure your dad knows that !! don't be too hard on him. life's pretty tough and he's probly got alot of things on his mind. anyway, it sounds like riding isn't his bag. besides, he did take the time to show you how to use that clutch. now you have that banshee to rip around on. if youre ever heading up to oklahoma (like a trip to little sahara) let me know. i'm sure that we could get a couple other bhq guys together for a ride there. atvfreestylekid Posted January 27, 2008 Author Report Posted January 27, 2008 I plan on going to this place. How far from here do you live? I went to rocky ridge once. I'd like to go back there to. My mom said she would like to go ride to  . So I'm working on my old 98 Kawasaki 250 mojave she got me when I was 9. She'll be hooked. I'm running low on cash now though :ermm: . It started knocking 3 yrs ago and now I can't get the thing to start. I'm thinking about dropping a 250 ninja motor in it. I've seen a 500 ninja motor put in a mojave frame in a dirtwheels mag. So surly a 250 will fit. Quote
brian Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 looks like about 3 hours for me. that place looks pretty cool. i'd probably go there with you. just gotta get my motor back together. probably another month or so. send me a pm whenever you want to try to plan going and we'll have to work something out. Quote
atvfreestylekid Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 Ok, I'll let you know. it will be a while before I get my shee broke in enough for me to feel confortable to romp on it. By the way, What did you give for your marvin shaws? I've e-mailed them twice on some front coil overs but get no response. I'm not going to buy a set of shocks if I don't even know how much they are. Quote
brian Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 i got them used and in a package deal with some other parts. i think they worked out to be around $275. you can get new ones for $400-430 average. not directly from marvin shaw tho. google search marvin shaw coil overs. Quote
