1995shee Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 I was riding my banshee and it started acting like it was out of gas. So, naturally i made sure the gas was on, it was, then i made sure that i had fuel, and i did. It kept running but the left cylinder wasn't firing all the time. Almost like it was being forced to. So i pulled out the spark plugs to see if the left one was fowled. Here is when it gets confusing. The right plug looked normal, blackened with a milk chocolate tip. The left one looked brand new and was wet with fuel. Almost like there was no spark getting to the plug. What do you guys think? Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 check your the plug cap, they tend to burn up internally, also check compression, it sounds like you have a bad plug cap or the plug wire has a bad connection either where it goes into the coil or the cap.. good luck, try switching the plug caps (left one on the right spark plug, right one on the left plug) Quote

1995shee Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 welp, i switched the cables ade fired it up. Same problem still there. Could it be as simple as a bad plug? It looks new and shiny. I otta try that. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 yea swop the plugs out, see if the problem follows the plug.. is it wet with fuel?? Quote
1995shee Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) plug was definately wet. Swapped'em out. Won't even fire up now. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get some more plugs. You would think with this being my second banshee(i should change my name to 2003shee) and 5th two-stroke that i would have a ton of B8ES plugs lying around, but not one. sheerider1026 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 yea i would try a new set of plugs, if nothing then i would check to see how hot the spark is, you can also run champion 805 plugs.. they are an alternative if you can't get ahold of ngk's. Quote
1995shee Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 Now I feel stupid. I ran down and picked up some plugs, threw them in, and now its fine. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 lol. yea, just a dead plug . lol . how is your jetting?? how often do you kill a plug? Quote
1995shee Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) maybe once a summer. Not too often at all. normally when i check them out, they are a milk-chocolate colored and dry. Thats about just right from what i am told. Edited January 24, 2008 by 1995shee Quote
1995shee Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 I rode it around the neighborhood and the problem came back, now with random backfires on the left side. I will take apart my carbs and intake this weekend to see if that revels anything to me. Then maybe i will take the head off and look in the cylinders to make sure everything is ship shape. It doesn't have many hours on it. I only ride it maybe 5 times a summer for 4- to 6 outs a ride since late 2003. But who knows, maybe its time to bore the cylinders to .030 over or something. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 do a compression check. and I would pull the carbs down for a good cleaning. Quote
