04Leshee Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Rear axle bearings went. on the sprocket side of the carrier a half of the bearing is stuck inside of the carrier. and its chewed up on the outer part of the carrier. i know i have to do a little grindin on the carrier to make the bearing go on.. but how do i take out the old bearing on the brake disc side? and take out the half of bearing on the sprocket side? sheerider1026 Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 a long punch and a big hammer.. sounds like you may need another carrier as well.. just my thoughts, its hard to say on something like that wothout actually seeing it.. good luck. Quote
Michael Jackson Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 i destroyed my old carrier the same way, bearings were shot, kept riding it and destoryed the inside and outside edges of the carrier, your bets bet just buy a used one from someone on here $30-40 or so Quote
04Leshee Posted January 6, 2008 Author Report Posted January 6, 2008 i already have the bearings so is it worth puttin it all back together and riding it? i've had so much down time since i've bought it. should i buy a stock carrier? or an aftermarket one.? and in the middle of the carrier, the metal tube thingy. is that suposed to come out? i can take pictures and post them?? RoushRacing13 Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 I've got a stock carrier ( $40 shipped PM me ). That tube thingy is to keep you from pushing the center race out when you tighten the axle nut. Yes, you need it. Quote
chillls Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 try freezing it to get them out but if you have to buy one get an after market one Quote
04Leshee Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 should the tube inside of the carrier come out?? Quote
