RUDEDAWG Posted December 10, 2007 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 Whats up all, Today I was doing a shift pro and shift star mod on my bike and when putting the clutch basket back on I noticed there wasn't an o-ring installed behind it. The clymers manual shows one on page 156 it is the #17part. Is this o-ring really needed and for what purpose? I was wondering if I could just leave it off. Thanks! nunyabinness Posted December 10, 2007 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 i don't think it is necessary. i think it is meant to dampen noise or keep from getting stuff lodged between the basket and the gear or something. maybe somebody with more knowledge than i will chime in and tell me if i am wrong. sheerider1026 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 man i had just built a cub motor with 33 pwk's, cpi inframes, and bll the other goodies.. right away i had shifting issues (imagine that), i put the star and shift pro in and wow, its a huge difference, smooth effortless shifting.. not as good as an overide of course but its way easy to shift. Bansh-eman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 rudedawg, i have seen problems not using the oring if your running a bone stock clutch and oem plates. i have also seen guys not have a single problem. so its kind of hit or miss. also if you have aftermarket plaes you dont run the oring.
