'99350t Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 has anyone evermade or seen a stock frame re fabbed into one with a second, "sub frame"? iam building one from the ground up and i was looking at the bare frame and wondered if anyones ever cut and sectioned it? the reason i ask is so i can p/c it in my small oven i work at a welding shop so it wouldn't be too challenging Quote
J-Madd Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 Yeah, for drag racing they will use a chromoly subframe a lot of times. Not sure for any other kind of riding, though. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Mine was built out of 3/4 tube chrome alloy and welded on. I have seen some company's out there that make sub frames that are bolt on also. http://davemooreracing.com/Chassis_Mods.html here is one example Quote
dajogejr Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 No offense to dave moore racing, but I wouldn't trust a removable sub frame on a drag bike you're doing 70 to 80 miles an hour on in a few hundred feet or bouncing over the dunes....just me. Most places will weld you a chromoly sub frame on...) They just retain the stock seat latching bar, fab the rest. Quote
