riderofthestorm Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 I recently bought an 88 Banshee, and it needed completely rebuilt!,, i got it bored to 60 over, prolite wiseco pistons, new stock crank, it has DG full exhaust(on it when i bought it!) k/n filter without the snorkel and drilled fillter cover, boyeson pro series dual stage carbon fiber reeds, boost bottle,,TORS eliminated, but it doesn't have the idle kit i got the motor back and it has ngk b8es plugs,,, my current jetting is 240 main with 27.5 pilots, needle set on the 3rd setting,, how many turns out for the pilot air screw do i start with? before i put the carbs on i need to know if i should up my jetting? and are these the best plugs for my shee? also i was told the boost bottle just takes up space, doesn't actually do anything? i live in Pennsylvania and ride between 1500 and 2000 feet above sea level? anything you can help me with would be great, i just don't want to mess up my engine during break-in cause i have a lot of cash tide up in this thing thanks! riderofthestorm Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 Yeah i've heard nothing good about boost bottles! i already took it off,, ok i'll keep the current jetting and check it, i just wasn't sure cause i've read some on here where they run around 290-300 mains, and my local yamaha dealership said he would start with 350 mains and work from there, i just needed to get some more opinions, and this seemed like the best place,, thanks alot man! riderofthestorm Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 well i fired it up today! and it seemed to be running a little lean so i set the needle on the 4th groove from the top to richen it up, and set the air screw about 1 3/4 turns out it seems to run great!! unbeleivable! i am very impressed with it,, i haven't put it at WOT yet cause um still breaking it in, but at about half thottle it will wheelie in 5th no prob, i think i might have to go um a few on the mains about a 280 i think, when i checked the plug it was brown? i live in Karthaus Pa, my friend just sold his shee that looks just like yours! where you from? xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I`m from Shamokin. i had my shee for about 10 months now. brown is good but once you open it up it may change. a beer bottle brown is good. this is a link that i used to judge my plugs. toyotaman Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 if i were you i would try 300 to 310 mains. the bigger bore, pipes and k&n filter allow alot more flow throgh the motor. im sure its different here but i ride the dunes in oregon and im running 330s with a K&N filter, t5s and .30 wisecos. sure thats at sea level but you have alot bigger bore cylinders then i do. Quote
