faeman66 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Well I have bulit some motors (Auto ) and know who to go to for that but I would like to get hooked up with a shop that does powersport mortors. I know a hole is a hole, but a small block chevy is not the same as the old shee! I dont want to ask any parts counter person.. so i can go to some guy that will F-up my motor. I want to know from you who has done the best job. Finding a shop that does a good job is the start to a long lasting motor! Any help would be great! Thanks Quote
hyperlite33 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Where are you at? Vickery motorsports here in Aurora has done some boring for me and I was happy with them. Also check with majicmike, he is in brighton and could help you out. If you want porting ect I would send them out to Kevin @ herrjugsracing.com (San Diego) or Jeff @ farmandsandtoys.com (Kansas) or the list goes on... Quote
FireHead Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 http://westernenginesupply.com/ I asked around and found that these guys are ok. Quote
faeman66 Posted October 3, 2007 Author Report Posted October 3, 2007 I live in Westminster and I Know of Vickery. I have a dune port job done and I will be getting a new Crank form F.A.S.T. I think hes got the best deal for a weld\trued crank. Hyper, did they match the pistons to the cylinder (did you give them the new pistons and the cylinders, so the can make sure they had the same clearance? I hear some bad things happen when they just look at the piston size and then bore, with out putting a mic on both pistons) If it sounds like I worrying too much let me know I just plan to spend a ton of money and I want to go out and ride it like I stole it every time I kick my leg over it!! Yes the guys there did require my piston to bore the cyl. so they must know what they are doing. Granted it was for a polaris, but they are a yamaha dealer also. While your ordering from Jeff...get some wisco pistons from him as he has great prices. Then take the pistons to Vickery. I think the motorcycle shop in Boulder on 55th & Valmont can do boring/honeing also but I have never used them. If you need any help at all or want to ride sometime let me know... Quote
