one of my friends is having trouble with his jetting i just want to ask what you would thing a good starting point would be for him... he has FMF pipes, boysen reeds,he is at about 500 feet.. the carbs are 35 or 38 keihin's... he thinks its a pilot jet problem he has a 62 pilot jet in there now... any ideas on what he should be running for jetting???

If that is all he has done to that motor those carbs are gigantic!!

yeah i know they are lol.... i had them on mine at one point and they always ran wayyy to rich.. yeah thats what he has done... it is also bored a little but i dont think that makes a difference with jetting..

so do you think that carbs are just too big for the setup??? or can they be jetted to run right??? he just need a ball park range because pilot jets get expensive when you need to buy 5 or 6 of them.. thanks

do you have any porting? compression? timing? etc? sounds like you would be better off with stock carbs....

 

 

No Porting... has normal compression.. stock timing..

yes you can run those carbs, however, you will have to run it fairly lean and would not have as much benefit as running stock carbs or maybe 28-30mm carbs....I vote for trading those big carbs for some porting....
