smartsshee22 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I was installing the intake manifold for the Trinity 2 into 1 intake and was not sure if it needs a gasket where the manifold to reed connects. The manifold has orings on it and when I put the gasket in there too it just does not look right. I am running VF3 reeds. Thanks in advance. Quote
fernando427 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I used gaskets only, no o rings even from the boot carb to the billet manifold i used a gasket, i called trinity and they gave me a yamaha part number for the gaskets Quote

chevrolet banshee Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 wen i hacd that set up i used a gasket between the intake and the reeds than one between the reeds and the moter Quote
Snopczynski Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I have that intake and only recall there being an o-ring in between the intake and the rubber boot. Quote

I just want to make sure that there is not going to be any leaks. Also, you said that you used a gasket from the boot to the carb? Do you have that gasket part number or know where to get one because the reed gaskets dont fit on that. I called Trinity and they said run both the gaskets and the orings. Thanks again guys. Quote
fernando427 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 i dont remember the part number but its from a yz 250 like a 85 yz 250, ask to talk to someone else at trinity the guy gave me the part number, i know its a yz250 carb boot gasket, i called them to order the o rings cuz i bought mine used and thats what they told me to use a gasket so i wouldnt have to order o rings from them. smartsshee22 Posted September 29, 2007 Author Report Posted September 29, 2007 Awesome, thank you. I will call them again later on. If I do eliminate the orings, do you think that I will have any issues with air leaks from the ring grooves or will the gaskets take up the slack? Maybe I should throw a thin bead of clear sealant on the gaskets and manifold for some extra insurance. Any thoughts? Quote
fernando427 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 use like a glue on the gaskets, i heard u dont have to but i did and no leaks.i was leary to use silicone because i didnt want it to squeeze into the manifold. try gasket cinch or shalack or even weatherstrip adhesive to hold the gasket on while u install it. ood luck Quote

Either way, I only use a thin amount on the gaskets so it does not sqeeze through to the cylinders. Thanks again for all the help. Quote
Snopczynski Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) ok, I am confused as shit right now. I have a trinity intake, I took it off today. Here is how you put it on. Gaskets, reedcages, gaskets, then manifold, o-ring, then rubber carb boot. Do not use sealers, there is no need. Edited September 30, 2007 by Snopczynski Quote
sredish Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 orings or not, I use gaskets on both sides, reeds-to-cylinder and reeds-to-intake. Quote
smartsshee22 Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 orings or not, I use gaskets on both sides, reeds-to-cylinder and reeds-to-intake. Thanks Snopczynski and Sredish...I just finished it all up. My intake has o-rings on the inner flanges that mount to the reed cages and the flange where the carb boot to manifold goes. I took the orings out for the inner flanges and just used the gaskets because when I used both I was not getting a good seal at all. I did keep the oring for the carb boot to manifold in though with no gasket as that seemed to seat just fine. Here are some pictures of the completed install. Thank you all for the assistance once again!!! http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n39/sma...22/DSCF0004.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n39/sma...22/DSCF0003.jpg Quote
sredish Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Looks purty. Nice clamp-on. That's exactly how I like to run mine. Nice and easy to get to the carb should it be necessary. Quote
