bigwake Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 sorry in advance..this is probablty a common question but when i searh it ..the seach returns as "error"..ok so i tried everything to get this banshee started..it wont start until about 100 kicks..it isnt flooded or not getting fuel..i checked the compression and its 120 each..new plugs in..new gas..drained old gas..has great spark..everything is ok..when the bike is running..it runs perfect..no sputter, bogging etc..so the carbs are clean as a whistle..the choke vaccum line thing between the carbs is hooked and good..the problem seemed to be the choke itself..it never affected idle once the bike started..and thats why it was so hard to start..with the choke not working at all..i took the choke out and inspected o rings etc..all looked fine..i put it back in the bike and it started cold 1st kick with choke on..i tested it again later that day with the engine cold..it started fine again..the next day i tried again (thinking i had fixed my choke problem) and it went back to not starting..some people say its because my TORS is hooked still..could this be the case? and if so..how do i unplug it..it seems wayy tight at the connection piece and i can barely fit my hands in the tight space to begin with..any other opinions on why its so hard to start? and i did put some quick start in it the day i figured it was the choke..and it fired right up..and then the day after is when i was able to start it fine..until now Quote

It is mounted to the frame. I would verify spark while kicking. I really doubt the TORS is your problem from the sounds of it. However, if you are touching the throttle and it is not adjusted properly, it may cause problems. Brandon Quote

Brandon ya i finally got it unplugged..no difference..manually choked the carbs by removing the k&n and shoving a towel in the manifold..worked first try..but then when the bike was warmed up..after the k&n bak in..seat back on..i pulled the choke knob and the bike shut off..so it worked that time..but it wouldnt work to start the bike..its like innermittant....i dont hit the gas..doesnt start..hit the gas..still doesnt start..any suggestions? 202banshee Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Mine was the idle was to high. Throttle blades were open to far and didnt have enough air velocity to pull fuel on first start. Mine would fire with starting fluid or by pull starting but never by kicking. But after it started It would start all day long even if cold. Afetr I cleaned the carbs and still nothing. So I set the air screws to 2 turns. With air box still off I backed the idle screws all the way off. Done my best hillbilly carb synch and then turned the idle screws just till they started to raise the slides then fired the bike and set the idle just high enough to run. Worked fine fires on first kick now. Hope this helps. My tors was bad but it didnt effect mine starting at all. Quote

My tors was bad but it didnt effect mine starting at all. ya my idle is just high enough to run..it runs/idles everything totally fine..no sputters/stalls nuthing..i can let it sit idle until the tank empties..no lie..i pretty much narrowed it to the choke again today..i did the tors thing.. nuthing..and so i manually shoked it with a rag and it fired 1st kick..i dont know why..but the choke works half the time and doesnt half the time..i'll figure it out somehow..but thanx for the info Quote
