  1. thanx i'll look into that
  2. my kick starter rattles like an alarm clock when running..how are the rebuild kits? and are there any that are better than others? thanx
  3. fixed it
  4. ok thanx..i took it apart and shot carb/choke cleaner everywhere..now im putting it bak on and cheking if it helped
  5. just put new/used carbs on my banshee..they run great..my problem is that when the gas is on, the right carb spits gas out like a fountain out of the yellow drain line near the swingarm (the lowest line on the carbs)..why is this? is it the floats? waht could it be? any ideas would help..thanx
  6. i couldnt get this thing started..its a 2000 banshee stock except boost bottle vf3's and barnett clutch..i checked the compression..120 each..checked spark..fine..even put new plugs in..checked choke tube..its connected..once the bike is running..it runs like a champion..no bogging/under powered etc..runs great..i had a friend come over and we narrowed it to the choke/carbs..once the bike started after 100 kicks..the choke didnt effect idle at all..so i pulled the choke and inspected o rings..looked fine..i sprayed some choke cleaner in the choke hole and on the choke itself..i put it back in..we found that it will start when you manually choke it with a towel over the air filter manifold..i forgot to mention its a single k&n filter..so i think my choke is the problem but it looks fine..now when the bike is running the choke makes a difference in idle and will kill the bike when hot as it should..i took it apart today after riding at the track over the weekend. the choke spring was covered with dirt and grit from the track..so i suspect that maybe the boot that covers the choke is allowing grit in and over the past how ever long its been ridden dirt has gotten in the carbs and thats why it won't start?..i just dont get why it wont start up when cold..after many hours at the track it wouldnt even start when hot or warm..which makes me think it was because the dirt was getting in there? so basically before i tear the carbs out and clean them (which i dont even know how to do yet) does anyone think its safe to use a fuel additive or gas cleaner? like one off the shelf at an auto parts store? just thought i'd give it a try...any suggestions would be great! thanx guys
  7. i'll check it out soon..and btw..do vf3's require a rejet?
  8. so if this is the case..the float bowl swap..would it manually choke fine?..like if i covere the air filter manifold with my hand or a towel?
  9. i was thinking about that..im gonna pull it off again and see..when i looked at it before..it looked fine..but ya never know
  10. ya i checked that choke line and it seems fine..mayb i just need a new choke assembly
  11. i dont get this though..if i had ANY of those problems..my bike would run like S#it though..right?..i rode it 3 hrs straight..no bogging or any problems at all..no hesitation anything..its purely a choke issue
  12. if that was the case..i would have problems with running/fuel..which isnt the case..but thanx
  13. ya..i checked the hose..its there and good..i'm thinking with u about the plunger..i just think its wack how mine can look fine and it just doesnt work?..i'll see what happens when i get a new one
  14. i forgot to mention..its stock except for vf3's..boost bottle..barnett clutch
  15. ok..i couldnt get my 2000 banshee i just bought to start when i got it home..i noticed that 100 kicks later, and it started that the choke made no difference in the idle speed..so it wasn't functioning..i took the quad for a 2hr ride..straight 2 hrs of riding without shutting the motor off..idles fine..no sputter..runs like a champ!..but starts like crap..so i did the compression check..120 each..i'm at sea level by the way..i put the new plugs in..with new 93/oil mix 32:1..no difference with starting..i had a friend come over and he manually choked it with a towel in the manifold for the air filter and it started 1st kick..so we narrowed it to the choke..i inspected the choke and it looked fine..o rings were in nice shape and still there..the hose connecting both carbs is on the appears to be fine..so i put the choke back in the carb..waited over night and came out to see if it would start cold..2nd kick and got it going..i waited some hours later and started it again cold..2nd kick again..did it once last time cold that night..2nd kick again..i was super stoked that it was starting..and now the choke was affecting idle..once it started i shut the choke off and it stalled..like a cold motor should..and so i was stoked thinking i had fixed it..the next day it went back to not starting..so i manually choke it now to get it started..any ideas?
  16. ya my idle is just high enough to run..it runs/idles everything totally fine..no sputters/stalls nuthing..i can let it sit idle until the tank empties..no lie..i pretty much narrowed it to the choke again today..i did the tors thing.. nuthing..and so i manually shoked it with a rag and it fired 1st kick..i dont know why..but the choke works half the time and doesnt half the time..i'll figure it out somehow..but thanx for the info
  17. ya i finally got it unplugged..no difference..manually choked the carbs by removing the k&n and shoving a towel in the manifold..worked first try..but then when the bike was warmed up..after the k&n bak in..seat back on..i pulled the choke knob and the bike shut off..so it worked that time..but it wouldnt work to start the bike..its like innermittant....i dont hit the gas..doesnt start..hit the gas..still doesnt start..any suggestions?
  18. sorry in advance..this is probablty a common question but when i searh it ..the seach returns as "error"..ok so i tried everything to get this banshee started..it wont start until about 100 kicks..it isnt flooded or not getting fuel..i checked the compression and its 120 each..new plugs in..new gas..drained old gas..has great spark..everything is ok..when the bike is running..it runs perfect..no sputter, bogging etc..so the carbs are clean as a whistle..the choke vaccum line thing between the carbs is hooked and good..the problem seemed to be the choke itself..it never affected idle once the bike started..and thats why it was so hard to start..with the choke not working at all..i took the choke out and inspected o rings etc..all looked fine..i put it back in the bike and it started cold 1st kick with choke on..i tested it again later that day with the engine cold..it started fine again..the next day i tried again (thinking i had fixed my choke problem) and it went back to not starting..some people say its because my TORS is hooked still..could this be the case? and if so..how do i unplug it..it seems wayy tight at the connection piece and i can barely fit my hands in the tight space to begin with..any other opinions on why its so hard to start? and i did put some quick start in it the day i figured it was the choke..and it fired right up..and then the day after is when i was able to start it fine..until now
  19. ahh,.the link doesnt send u directly to it..its a 2000 banshee
  20. ok..if it isnt good..which part is it on this schematic..on the carb break down?..i couldn't find which one it would be http://www.bikebandit.com/parts/Yamaha/BAN...+/+YFZ350M/2000
  21. got any pics of the choke..the way it should look? i want to see if i can still use my stuff..but maybe it needs a gasket or something?..it looks fine..but doesnt work
  22. i figured out my choke doesn't work right..it pulls way far out..pulls itself back in the carb..and it doesn't change the idle of my quad when it starts..it doesnt work at all..i can't even get my bike started withought quick start..just wondered if someone could post up a pic of a working choke..maybe mine is missing a gasket or something? thanx
  23. thanx everyone..i had a buddy come over and we checked the compression..checked out fine..120 each..we figured my choke is trash..idk why but it is..when it is on..the bike finally starts..i put the choke in and no difference in idle..so i need to find a new choke..thanx for all the help guys
  24. i ahvent tried yet..so i dont know if mine will flood..all my past 2 strokes have though..so i dont know
