robert.b.west
I just got the head milled and when I put it back together and started it up anti-freeze was leaking around half of the head bolts. I was wondering if the gasket has a top and a bottom or is it just probably put on wrong. It is a new gasket and I torqued the bolts down to 18 ft. lbs. If any one has any sugestions please let me know.
DuneRookie
When I did mine (Milled head also) I used a gasket sealer. Copper spray adhesive for gaskets. Cant remember brand. Then I torqued slowly and made several passes only tightening a little each time until torq reached.
Snopczynski
I don trun stock heads anymore, but I think I remember there being "UP" stamped into the stock headgaskets. Did you torque it down with a torque wrench?

Did you torque it down with a torque wrench? you can also try some permatex on the studs.....thats what most do with the aftermarket heads. ClimbAnyHill
i thought the torque is 20 not 18?? Did you torque in increments of 5?
jmd0346
Sounds like it may have not been milled true. Id spend the money and get a aftermarket head. Im pretty sure the stock head gasket is top and bottom though. Thats probably the problem.
