I finally pulled my engine apart to see why I have no compression on the left side and it is because my piston broke. It dug out the jugg pretty good and the head is toast...but I am not sure if I can fix the jug. Is it sleeved because I can't really tell. It is not pitted that bad but it but it got it pretty good on the port and I am not sure if a bore job can fix it. What is the easiest way to fix this...do I buy a new jug and leave it stock and put new pistons in, do I try to get it resleved and if I do will I have to bore it to get bot jugs to match, if I buy a used jug will I need to bore them both to get them even. I am lost and screwed. Someone please help

The piston broke? Like a skirt came off or something? Looks like its going to be time to split the cases and make sure nothing got down in the crank. Then you will need to take the jug to a bore guy and see if a bore will fix it. If not, get a new one, put a fresh top end in the bike, and it may be a good time to upgrade to a coolhead if your head it trashed.

They are not sleeved and it is wise to get the same bore on both. Whomever is going to do the machining will tell you if they are salvageable. Has it been bored already?

umm, stock banshee jugs are sleeved...

post up some pix of your problem area in the cylinder, we should be able to tell if its salvageable or not..

Here is a link to see how bad my piston is...it is shitty qual due to it being on my phone. I am waiting for my camera to charge and I'll get some pics up of the head and the jug. Thanks again for the help.

dont go to Yamaha!!! you will pay way to much for them to work on it. do you have a machine shop in the area or a local bike/atv shop? if so thats where you should go. it cost me $95 for the bore on them and $128 for 60 over wiseco pro lite pistons rings. just dont forget to get new wrist pins.

HOW BIG IS TO BIG OF A BORE. I ride alot of trails and it tends to get a little hot? I just don't want to go big and free it due to heat

you only want to have it bored enough to take out the nicks in the cylinder. if its stock try 10 over. the machine shop or who ever you take it to will know what to do. my shee is 60 over. thats 6 bores from stock. it dont over heat.
