ElDuner Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I have a motor that im putting together and since its all apart and the crank is sitting in a box Im thinking of getting it welded. How much should it cost to get that done and also whats a good place in the Los Angeles area to get it done? thanks Quote
Bansh-eman Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 (edited) any competant motor shop or machine shop can do it for you... shouldnt cost more then 75 bucks... thats to true and weld it. so just to have a weld dropped on the web shouldnt cost much... while your at it check the bearings and make sure they are good too... jedsled Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 how much more longetivity would i get out of welding the crank? i'm not planning on stroking it, just boring out bigger. is it worth it for me to weld the crank in my application? i can see if i have to get the crank rebuilt to do it... how do i check if my crank needs to be rebuilt? thanks. Bansh-eman Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 as far as wear and tear the crank will have the same life span as before , only now you dont have to worry about the thing seperating. Quote

letsgetthisdone Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 once the crank starts to separate it just goes boom, thats it. if you search around you'll find a thread bigred350x put up when he did his crank.. Quote
