Just bought a 2000 banshee with a blown top end , just rebuilt the top end . Put it back together and now it wont run it will start and soon as i give it gas it falls on its face and stalls? Comp. is good , spark is good . the only thing i see is when its started fuel is pouring out of the overflow hoses in the carbs ? Is it possible i reversed the slides on the top of the carbs someone said that could be the problem ?It seems to be a carb problem to me . Also if anyone has the fuel/air screw mixture setting for the carbs it would be great ? Any feedback would be very appreciated .

take your filter off to see if your slides are in wrong. air screws have a variable setting, there isnt one fixed place for everones. 2 turns out from all the way in might be a good starting point though. You might wanna take those carbs apart and check em out. There might be a reason that thing was blown. Fuel spill might be a float issue. Make sure both slides are moving in sync.

if gas pours out one cyliner might not be right.. i have a 20 HP Mercury outboard boat motor and one piston was blown and it poured out gas but ran for like a little bit then fell on its face kinda like how you described your shee. with a fresh rebuild youd think everything would be good but maybe one side is acting up..

Thanks for the input ,How do I know from looking at the slides if they are in backwards ? And if i have a float problem what is the procedure for testing it , is it a hight measurment from the base of the bowl and if so do you know it . Once again thanks for the input.

Tap on the side of the carb with a screw driver or something. Sometimes, when you have

the carbs apart the floats will stick. Yes there is an exact measurement for the float height

adjustment. I dont know it, I dont have my clymers handy, maybe someone will chime in

with it. With the air filter off, Look at your slides. One side of the carb slide will have a

Half moon cut out in it. It should be very noticeable if your slides are in back ass wards.

assuming you are COMPLETELY stock. your mains should be either 200 or 220, 25 pilots

and 2 turns out on air screws. Make sure the choke crossover hose is connected between

your carbs. Also check your parking brake. There should be a wire going from a small switch

on it down into the frame. Chase that wire and disconnect it from the main wire harness.
