hey guys i want to send my cylinders to fast and have them ported soon, my first question is while i have the engine apart should i get the crank welded. (you guys got me scared about them braking) then if i should weld the crank is it a big task to split the cases (special tools needed?) i work at a john deere dealer so tools arnt a problem or can i just send the whole motor in and let them do it.

Get a book, pull the crank, and get it welded.

Yes you should think about having the crank welded.

As you get up in higher compression and mods and the like, there

is a greater chance of your crankshaft seperating.

It is not hard to split the cases either. There is nothing that will jump

out atcha when you do it. Lol

Really all you will need is a good torque wrench in the way of tools.

Keep in mind when spiltting the cases, would be a good idea to replace

all crank and tranny seals.

I split mine and opted for a 4mill long rod crank when I did mine and

had no prior experience with banshee engines. And I must say mine

turned out great.

Jeff can also weld your crank for you.

Good luck and have fun.

true and welding the crank is good insurance .lots of static compression is hard on crank bearings so is hitting 2 thousand rpms higher than it was designed for

and if your making double the power then it only makes good sense ,think of the crank as the heart of your engine. splitting a banshee egnine is really very simple with some patience and a manual yo u would save a lot of money (probably over $200+)if you did it all yourself .an engine builder only needs the cylinders not the entire engine ( he must know your engine setup however) and thats if hes using modern 2 stroke portmapping software

only thing I can think of for special tools would have to be, a flywheel puller, and an impact.

Get your self a manual, and take your time.

Also make sure you buy a flywheel puller from a dealer. they are like 12 bucks. If you try and use a two jaw puller you will be buying a new flywheel!
