Your first, and best step would be to buy a Clymer's manual, look it over, and then come back here, and ask questions.

Getting a clymer's will help tremendously and answer a lot of questions you will have along the way in the rebuild. Since the top end is off I would get all brand new parts and redo it as well. Either way yo udecide to go on the crank whether it's stock or a 4mil. I would talk to jeff at farmandsandtoys.com He is a member here and a hell of a guy to deal with. He can answer just about any and all questions you have and will point you in the right direction.

Most cranks can be rebuilt for cheaper than a new one.

A good used crank is 75 to 150....new is 3X times that...

alright guys got the haynes one and i was looking through it not bad info. but seems like an a wholelot of work. i am gettin the quad on monday. if i am doin all work, what should i replace along the way so i dont have to go back and redo it. and what set up should i do a 4mm stroker or a stock one.

If you go with a 4mill, you should have the cylinders ported to match the longer stroke. If you do not, you will not be getting the most out of the stroker.

I would replace all the seals and gaskets, I would also get a billet water pump impeller because the stocker is plastic, has been known to break and trash the engine.

Also gonna need new pistons and rings. I would put new wrist pin bearings in it too!

Make sure to check the clutch over real well, and look for deep grooves in the clutch basket, if there are any its time to replace that as well.
