Snopczynski Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 anybody??? Check the flywheel pickup for sighn of contact with the stator magnets. Often times they will rub, heat up and go bad. Quote
. Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 It could also be that it was a ricky stator....people have been having a lot of problems lately with them since he turned to outsourcing them to another country I believe. Quote

Its a little too coincedental that he blew one right before this also for it to be a issue with the manufacturing of the component. Dont blame RS until you know whats wrong. Quote

Dont blame RS until you know whats wrong. yeah....its pretty coincedental.....but look up all the threads on this site about the stators going bad right away....and not even working right out of the box. Thats why I said "It could"......its something to think about. But if you look at everything with a fine tooth comb and everything comes out how it should be....only last thing it could be is the stator. Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Ummm, well since the guys stock stator had gone bad and the new one ran awhile, then I would look into a wiring or install issue. You guys are the ones that have issues with RS products, I dont have issues with them at all. This bike isn't a Banshee either. Quote
TOYBOX Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Heard a whine from my 88 bottom end last week, crank bearing were bad, it was moving enough to make it break up on top end. Quote
TOYBOX Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) ???? I dont get it? Crank moved in and out, the R is known for the crank to get play between the lobe and inner bearing race Edited July 9, 2007 by TOYBOX Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Crank moved in and out, the R is known for the crank to get play between the lobe and inner bearing race so it will get crank end play or radial play? Crank end play shouldn't take out a stator, but radial end play may cause the flywheel to whack the stator or the pick up. Quote
TOYBOX Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 so it will get crank end play or radial play? Crank end play shouldn't take out a stator, but radial end play may cause the flywheel to whack the stator or the pick up. I only own 4 R's, you tell me Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I only own 4 R's, you tell me Tell you what? I asked you to confirm what you were saying? Is it crank end play or radial journal play? He has a stator issue, Now I am confused about why you piped in about a whining noise, and just told me to tell you? Quote
. Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 because if their is end play it can cause the flywheel to move in and out correct? Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Well it should yes, but I would think it would have to move almost 1/4" to hit anything. He is probably the best source to figure that out from though. Quote
