PhantomMs1 Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I am thinking about building a banshee mostly from sratch. the only problem i am seeing so far is finding an engine for a decent price. for all of you Experts out there. how much do you think it would cost to build a banshee from the frame up? using used/rebuilt items? Thanks! Quote
625banshee Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I would say you will have between 2,000 and 3,000 in a decent looking banshee Quote
PhantomMs1 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 thats what i was figuring, like i said the only main problem is finding a good used engine for cheap. i dont want anything fancy, to start anyways. just a good clean looking shee that basicaly i built. Quote
dajogejr Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 You can get fresh, drop in engines between 1000 and 1800. Ebay, members on here, etc.. There is a member here, YFZ450, selling a fresh stock bore, stock port motor with a 4 mil stroker crank, he's parting out the bike...see if he still has the motor... Quote
625banshee Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Check ebay for a motor you can usually get one at a decent price. Quote
yfzdunejumper Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I would say you can find a stock motor for 600 - 1000 I wouldn't spend more than that. I think your best bet would be find a complete qaud in a box and put it together. I just bought one for 500 with everything except the top end. Quote
PhantomMs1 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 so with finding a motor around 600-1000 you think i should be able to get the rest of it for another 1000? or 1500? yfzdunejumper where did you find everything in a box? ebay? Quote
. Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Personally I wouldnt recommend building a quad from scratch unless you already have one sitting in front of you. First off, for the most part, banshees are worth more in pieces than they are together. You will get nickel and dimed to death on all the little stuff from washers, and sleeves, and tie rod ends and tie rods and brake calipers and the list goes on and on and on. Your gonna have to pay for shipping on all this stuff that will add up as well. I would recommend finding an early 90's POS banshee laying around somewhere and go from there. Even if you need to buy a bunch of the big stuff (frame, a-arms, shocks, etc etc) I would at a minimum buy a rolling chassis and start from there. Start making a list of stuff you can think of that is on a banshee and look on here or on ebay for prices of what the stuff goes for.....it adds up quick Quote
Fireroad Express Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 yep, i agree with " . " building from scratch is really expensive, assuming your on a tight budget. i've been there ,done that. you will get hammered on shipping and buying individual parts is expensive. buy an older a-arm rolling chassis or complete machine and go from there. I was watching these for myself, check em out.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...7533&rd=1,1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-Yamaha...142279894QQrdZ1 some projects: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-Banshe...127185198QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/350-BANSHEE...142691416QQrdZ1 I built mine just about all stock in my sig from scratch for about 2400. Now you can buy one for that much and save yourself the trouble, and just add on aftermarkets on the way. Quote
