strokerace Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 (edited) took the kids to local track today with friends and thier kids i was going to try and get one more season out of the 05 ktm 65 son hit growth spurt. he was jumping the shit out of this little bike 5th and 6th gear jumps cleared an 60 foot table mote than once and was trying to hit a step -up and when he landed it heard a shot-gun pop and he broke the rear shaft on the shock and his ass wiped hard he got up crying and we all ran over to where he was and thought he was hurt and all he could say sorry dad i boke my bike and now i cant race this weekened coming up.So i get on the net and a new rear shock is 699.99 and one of my friends has and 06 cr85 his son outgrew this winter said i could have for 1200.00 he said it only had around 20 to 30 hours on it so im going to go look at it tomorrow .I watched my son all day and said man he needs a bigger bike least i got my 18 mil done and my 4 mill will have to wait so i can either get his fixed to sale or put in garage and fix it later either way im not putting him back on it who knows what hell break next he just turned 12 so the 85 should do him about right Edited June 11, 2007 by strokerace Quote
racer Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 you better get that 85, those things are about 3 times that new. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 oh man for sure... 12 he needs to be one that 85... hell here in not too too long he will need a 125. you can probly find a shock for less then 700 bones to put on there and sell it Quote
MILO Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 it sounds like your boy can ride pretty well and has some cojones. i'd say just skip to the 125 and let him tear shit up. he'll be over an 85 in no time at that age. let him grow into the 125 at his own pace and he'll be kickin ass. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 i kinda agree with milo. there was a kid that was like 14 or 15 at the track last weekend on a 250. that kid was fukin RIPPIN it up!!! put him on the bigger bike and let him learn now so later its easier Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Id go with the 85 for sure. I rode my friends worked race bike that thing was nasty. Plain stood up on me like you wouldn't believe and im like 180lbs. For a 12 year old i think its and awesome choice. Quote
strokerace Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 bought a rear shock for 70.00 off ebay went and looked at the ktm 105 dont know the cr 85 that my friend has is a steal im building him a blaster now with a 3 mil stroker and a 240 kit going to put banshee a arms or yzf 450 arms when i get a set in my hands i know i can make the banshee arms work done looked at those so i really dont want to dump alot of money in anything right now Quote
