Droppedatbirth Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 So yea i got rid of my airbox, put on the 2 into 1 toomey intake with outerwere, isn't it soposed to make it so the water doesn't get into it? or is there a special oil to put on it so that its safer if you happen to go through some water or mud? i had the shee turn off on me cause of the intake clogged up with water/dirt/mud took it off and let the water burn out and its all fine now but just wondering for those of you that actually go in some water with the shee's Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 If you got mud or dirt inside your engine i would not run it!! The tiniest foreign object can make a disaster happen in your engine.. I dont get what your asking although?? The oil is supposed to hold the dust particles that your sucking in, and the outerwear grabs the larger stuff before it hits your filter... The filter/outerwear is not supposed to be used in wet conditions, especially i foam filter... Ive had good luck with K&N's getting wet, the inside has always stayed pretty dry.. If your riding in Mud/Water i highly recommend you putting an airbox back on.. Eric Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 did you oil your k&n's before you installed your outerwears? if your filters are oiled and you are running outerwears you should be alright but as was mentioned if your riding style causes you to encounter large amounts of water and mud i'd put your air box back on. open element filters are good for occasional slashes but if your drenching your filters all the time you need some sort of splash guard. at least the stock box with no lid. Droppedatbirth Posted June 10, 2007 Author Report Posted June 10, 2007 So the stock one would be the best bet, i don't really hit the water that much, but when i can i always end up staying away from it and i really want to go through it most of the time its hot as hell here and a nice splash through the water is nice. is there anything that is performance that keeps water out besides a stock box? Snopczynski Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Oiling a K&N and runnin an outerwear will not keep water from getting through. If you ride the trails then you need to have an airbox. Outerwears are only water RESISTANT! Quote
Droppedatbirth Posted June 10, 2007 Author Report Posted June 10, 2007 an aftermarket box Any sugestions for an aftermarket box? are there any fully closed? Quote
