side_fxxx Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 i just removed my engine to put new rings on it and noticed that dirt was getting by the stock airbox with the toomey kit 2 stage foam filter. it was all on the walls up to the carb. is there something to use to make a better seal where the filter meets the box?? dirt-riceburner Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 smear generous amount of grease around the lip of the filter. Quote
2bzy2p Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 make sure your ring on the filter is tight,,and try putting an outerwere on it or a filterskin! Quote
wood Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 buy a k&n with the adapter plate.i had the same problem with the foam filter. Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Gotta make sure the filter is all the way down in the groove and the ring is tight. Also need to use the right oil. Quote
White06Shee Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I clean the sh*t out of my filter then spray on some filter oil, than i put pantie hose on than the outwear, and i have never had a problem Quote
wood Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 the only problem is that if you run no air box lid so that the air box lid hold the top of the filter to the air box the bottom of the filter will sit in the grove but the top is loose. Quote

Exactly. If you dont have an air box cover your better off with a pro flow kit with a clamp on, Or you can get a K&N power lid. If your running the stock lid just get some K&N sealing grease. Quote
