2strokeme Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 as some of you know i messed my flywheel up pulling it off. Wondering if i should go on a get a lightened flywheel. Seller says i'll have much better response and icreased speed through gears. Is this true? Quote
HotCarl Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Depending on the type of riding you do it can help or hurt you. Also you lighten a stock flywheel by machining material off of it, so if your flywheel is in good shape you can take it to a machine shop. Quote

For most applications, the lightened flywheel is a good thing on the Banshee. The reduction of mass reduces crankshaft inertia and can lead to stalling if uses on technical tracks. The extra weight also helps in traction by helping smooth the power delivery to the rear tires. Unless you are 230lbs or over and riding in woods or technical trails, I would say go for it. I don't do woods & my trails are pretty open & hit them hard. I like to climb stuff  I ride Pismo, Dumont, Glamis so I should be good with this lightening mod? Thanks. Quote
Snopczynski Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 You loose a little initial holeshot power, but you will gain quicker revs and more torque from a lightened one. Quote
