I want to get rid of the TORS on my wifes bike. Whats do I need? I found a kit from Vitos, but its just a drill and a tap thing for the idle screws. I guess I just need that, a new throttle cable, and caps right? Im clueless on this, Ive never had that shit on my other bike. All I know is that the TORS is messed up on her bike and I cant get it to idle at all.

Any of the kits should have everything you need. A drill, tap, idle screw, new cable, and caps. As for other tools that will come in handy: a file to smooth off the boss for the idle screw, piece of wood to put in carb so u don't drill through accidentally.

I found a complete kit with everything. I just wasnt looking hard enough. Thanks for the reply.

Honestly, the carb aluminum is so soft, if you get a coarse scotchbrite pad on a angle grinder...you can remove enough metal and flatten the boss to so the locknut will hold. The left side carb is a bitch because the fuel inlet is right in the way!!!

I've seen springs to hold the screw in place, so you don't have to use the locknut...but I've never personally used them....I like the idea, though.

A few quick things...

Completely dissasemble the carbs. I'm talking remove all jets, including the air jet on the back of the bell...

Use a lot of WD40 or comparable cutting oil when you tap it...

And...get a wooden hammer handle or similar and put it through the venturi of the carb...just in case you get a little trigger happy with the drill, you don't want to go on the other side and knick it.

I also use a medium sand paper and smooth the drilled/tapped hole on the inside to make sure there's no burrs, etc.

Just common sense...it's really, really easy to do.

And make sure you disconnect the wires at the TORS units, the brain under the tank AND the parking brake wires...

You forgot:

1. Grey's anatomy or other chick flick on TV so the "wifey" stays in the house

2. Twelve pack of "soda" to start out with

3. Package of gauze and band aids (Or substitute with shop towel and electrical tape)

4. More beer or Whiskey to "Sterilize" any open wounds

5. More beer to drink when something goes wrong

6. A number for a good lawyer when you drive to the store for the third round of refreshments and get popped for a DUI....

I installed a TORS removal kit today. Damn shee still doesnt start.

I forgot to cut the parking brake wire and the one going into the thumb throttle. I went back like 15 min ago in the dark and cut those. Kicked her over and nothing. Do i have to reconnect those wires or just leave them a lone and tape them off?

Tomarrow when i get home from work, i need to make sure im getting a spark. My problem has to be electrical. This bike is giving me a headache!

I had the same problem. Make sure the e-brake, throttle, both tors wires, and the little black box under the left side kinda by the coil of the bike is gone. Then make sure your slides are lifting enough to get the bike running. That was my main problem was getting the carbs set right after getting all the tors just off.

well the bike refuses to start before all of this. I prob screwed something up so it isnt giving it a spark to the spark plugs. One little wire is loose and it wont start.

Tomarrow i will make sure all of those things are removed and make sure all the electrical connections left over after removing all TORS things are still connected well.

thanx.
