quadfreak1 Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 i just put a 404 kit and new reeds on my 01 shee. it is ported and running a 290 main jet in my stock carbs. im also running dmc 2 into 1 pipes. it will start now and then but just idle it is getting way too much fuel, so it seems. im wondering if i have a reed problem or tors problem. i dont know what this is. ive dropped the jetting to 230 and still to rich. any help would be appreciated. locogato11283 Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 first off, 230 cant be too rich. no way. stock is 210 and with your mods and pipes theres no way it should be rich at 230. how did you determine it was rich? next, your main jet has nothing to do with your idle. the pilot jet is what you need to be looking at. what pilot is in there? should either be a 25 or 27.5. stock is 25. almost all aftermarket pipe setups require a 27.5 pilot. ive never seen anyone use bigger. what is it doing when you start it? quadfreak1 Posted May 18, 2007 Author Report Posted May 18, 2007 im in sout eastern canada. i dont know anyone that changes the pilot around here,. im running stock rite now. it wont idle for more than 10 sec then floods itself out. i take the plugs out and there soaked. im thinkin the fuel level in the float bowl is to high. thats the only thing ive got. if you get it started and give it any throttle it will give the impression of flooding and die.
