bentvalve Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 here are some pics of my current cases. i might be concerned about nothing.. look and give your thoughts.. would you put your brand new 4mm together in these? Quote
bentvalve Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 please let me know if i am worrying about nothing..i just know if this were a 302 ford block it would be a boat anchor.. this was the engine in my bike before i got all crazy and decided to rebuild everything. so it was running and where it was fixed(welded) there was a small leak but i silly-coned it and it stopped. don Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Cases are fine, the parts that seal the cases together are not damaged right? ie. places the sealant goes on... other than that its fine, i see you either had some crank bearings come out or whatnot?? Most people like a nice smooth crankcase, both my top and bottom crankcase surfaces are rough for atomization anyways... To each their own Eric Quote
bentvalve Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 there was a new crank and pistons in bike when i got it. i would say from the looks of things maybe a con rod let go? but all of the mating surfaces are good to go..thanks don Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 i see you just replied, where did you weld it??? I would never use a damaged case, where a leak can occur.. Quote
bentvalve Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 well it was welded on clutch side back around the kicker area. it did leak when i changed the fluid but i got it to stop, so would you still use them? don Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 if you can live with knowing your weld might come loose and f up your gears and clutch lmao... nah, if you think you welded it right and it aint gonna work its way apart its fine, the spring can still fit over the tab right?? lol, just asking... personally i dont like knowing theres a flaw in my cases, i would get a new bottom end .. but thats just me but they should work just fine. a new set of cases is cheap anyways, by the way it sounds with you spendin money with your mustang and other banshee parts i'd go ahead and get some matoon billet cases  .. i just saw some of those are my local shop last week, pretty sweet stuff. Eric  Quote
bentvalve Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 yeah trying to work on 2 expensive hobbies is kill'n me!! if i knew the person that welded this stuff i probably would feel better about them.. but i don't. don Quote
