fastbanshee8 Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Greensburg, Kansas was almost completely flattened by a tornado at 9:45 P.M. on Friday night. So far, there are 7 people dead, and 55 wounded. The tornado was a mile wide. The state has already declared the area a state disaster area, and two of Kansas's senators are trying to get President Bush to declare the area a federal disaster area. The town had a 30 minute warning, that the tornado was on it's way. I knew one person that lived there, and I can't tell you how sick, I feel. Quote

fastbanshee8 Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 (edited) Yeah, it was quite a distance from KC, and Holton, but only about 70 miles from Hutchinson. It seems like quite a distance, but it's not that far. I don't know about the person that I used to work with, that lived there, because there is no communication in or out of Greensburg, plus no gas, electricity, or water. They have a temporary morge set up in a local bar, and they are still in the rescue, and recovery stage. They are afraid that more bodies will be found. From what the news has said, people weren't even safe, if they were in a basement, because some were filled with debris. The videos, and pictures that I have seen, look like a nuclear weapon was dropped on the town. Now they say there are 10 confirmed dead. Here's a video;Tornado aftermath Edited May 5, 2007 by fastbanshee8 Quote

FASTOYS Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Thanks guys we are ok. Glad it didnt hit here or alot of you might of found your motors/cylinders dropping out of the skies. lol That tornado was no joke , over a mile wide and one of the biggest ever recorded like a E/F5 (over 200mph winds). My prayers go out to all from around that town as it was leveled. Greensburg is about 250 miles west of us. Good find Wes. Damn that looks like a bomb went off and there is nothing left. Wow, went and looked at those pics again, Didnt hit the tallest Coop towers but leveled everything else. Tornadoes are really wierd. Quote
