jury Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 i took my cylinders off to sand blast them, do i have to hone them and get new rings now, or is it fine to just put it back togeather?? thanks Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 you can reassemble with out doing anything but replacing gaskets but it would be worth it to hone the cylinders and install new rings. Quote
jury Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 well thecross hatch marks are still visable so i guess ill just go for it. Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 make sure there is no burrs on the rings and make sure the rings are positioned correctly. Good luck. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Proper way is to get an inside and outside mic for the cylinders, check the pistons ...and a feeler gauge to measure ring end gap. If the gap is acceptable and within range, clean up the cylinder with a rag and clean soapy hot water and reassemble them. Why deglaze the cylinders when the rings are already broken into the motor?? You'd almost be breaking it in again... Quote
