jkylnhyde Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 is there any special reason that the banshee uses a clip type master link over the rivet type master link? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 by rivet style ... are you talking bout just pushing a pin out witht he tool and attaching the two links together? not sure what rivet style your referring too.... Quote
jkylnhyde Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 Yes, the press fit rivet master is what i am talking about Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 thats not a "master link" its nothing more then pressing the pins from the chain to bind the 2 ends together... we did this when i raced go karts... never used masters for it... i have heard that people have had problems with the chains breaking doing this but im not very sure if i belive it ... to me it seems like it would be stonger... MILO Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 riveted chains are supposedly stronger and less likely to come apart since you don't have the possibility of the clip coming off or being damaged. at least that is what the honda shop told me when i had to have my new chain on my cbr put together with their special tool. personally, i like the regular clip style master link. as long as it is installed the right direction, it shouldn't be an issue. i've had my cbr up to about 150 on clip master links and i'm still alive  Quote
