r/atvshee Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I need help with a tranny. I was out riding today and made a pass through our little "strip" on my dads banshee. I was going through the gears perfectly fine (speed shifting) Then as i try to downshift, it wont. So now its stuck in 5th. I didnt feel or hear anything before this happened. the clutch seems to work fine also. Could it be the shift shaft? Quote
theshee Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Maybe the forks are stuck or something. Never had anything like that happen. Quote
BigRed350x Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Pull your clutch cover off and remove your clutch basket and I would almost bet money on the problem being down at the shift star. After a while the little cam dealy that grabs your shift star the springs on it will wear out and it gets wedged out of place to where it can only grab upwards and wont let you shift down. Has happened to me more than a few times over the years. Simple fix. Remove the clutch and take a look down there at your shift star. - Jared Quote
r/atvshee Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 I kinda figured it was in the whole shift star mechanism. Because it will shift into 6th but no downshift. Quote
