Four common things cause this: 1.)bad crankshaft seal. 2.)Leaking case gasket. 3.)Use of extremely heavy oil 4.) Overfilling the oil.

I have never heard of that before. Was there coolant in your oil as well?

I forgot to mention a plugged breather line would do it as well.

oil was coming out of my over flow once right after the motor was built , the builder did not use enough sealant (yamabond ) in between the cases , was leaking right behind the crank , rebuilt it myself and it is fine now.

That's what I was getting at when I mentioned the case gasket. I was just trying to describe it in 4 words or less. :geek:

Thank you for all of your input, I am going to go over them all tomorrow. Looking further into it today, I realized that the oil is coming out of the overflow tube near the water pump. No water is getting in. After shutting the banshee off, you can hear the pressure release when you un screw the oil cap. I am using Belray 80w for the oil. Maybe finding out this info you guys could narrow it down for me. Thank you for all the help.

you have a vent problem. the most common problem with a plugged vent is blown seals and excessive fluid from the over flow. check that vent that sits between the carbs on the top of the trans. it might be gummed up with dirt and oil.

good luck.

Found the problem today. the rear vent was pinched off. thank you for all of your help
