535banshee Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I have heard some interesting things about you Douth Florida pavement guys. Are you guys actually going to show up in Oklahoma this time? I seem to recall that atleast a few people from Florida every year, for the past several years, always say they are going on one of the HQ rides in Oklahoma, but they never show up. I seem to remember one of the classic excuses being that sand racing was for pussys and that's why no one from Florida showed up. Are you sure that 5.8 is a 1/4 mile time? It kind of seems like an 1/8 mile time. But, what the hell do I know, certainly nothing about engines or racing. IT WAS IN THE 1/8 MILE WE WENT 5.80. YOU CAN CALL A&S AND TALK TO DAN ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. HE IS GOING TO TELL YOU STOCK. AND YOU SIR DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. A STOCK FLYWHEEL HAS MORE ROT. MASS AND WILL HELP WITH GETTING YOU OFF THE LINE. PVL'S HAVE A REAL SMALL FLYWHEEL SO LESS ROT. MASS. ITS HARDER FOR THAT BIKE TO LEAVE UNLESS YOU ARE A REAL SOME GUY. MY 18MIL MAKES AROUND 150HP WITH STOCK STUFF. SO IF I ADD AFTERMARKET STUFF IT IS GOING TO MAKE MORE, MAYBE BUT OFF THE LINE ITS GOING TO KILL THE BIKE. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD. Quote

Not adding fuel to the fire..but I have a question about your comments regarding flywheel mass. Do you mean it's harder to get out of the hole on asphalt or in sand? Also..are you a big guy, small guy...or use a Jockey? I've heard lighter flywheels are great for the light guy, but take away from the holeshot for "heavy hitters".... I'm 250ish myself, and have considered shaving my flywheel on my drag bike (10 mil cub)...but, not sure. I will run in sand probably 90% of the time...if not more, if that helps. Thanks for your input.... Quote

You have clearly proven that I don't know what I am talking about with your all caps post and your interesting use of grammar. Good job! Dan Hull is a good guy. If I cared I would call him, but you're just not worth it. 150hp out of an 18mm bike isn't that impressive. :shoothead: Quote
FireHead Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I know that no-one from our group has ever made the claim to go to Oklahoma!!! A couple of us said we were gonna goto PS last year to check it out, and we went. Most of our group isnt asphalt guys, we are sand guys. The pic of my bike has slicks on it due to the road is right here to get the jetting close. I could have been a bit wrong as I can't seem to find the thread on here that I was looking for and certainly don't remember what was said exactly. If am wrong, I apologize. It may not have been your group that was involved in the thread. Quote
535banshee Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 show me a 18ill that has more hp than 150 to 155. on motor. Quote

From what I hear from Chase, who does seem to come around here much any more, you're a good guy. My personal opinion on flywheel inertia is that lightening a flywheel will have a more pronounced effect on a smaller engine of the Banhsee persuasion. If you pack enough weight into the crank webs and.or rotating assembly you may not even need a flywheel on a larger Banshee engine. :geek: Quote
535banshee Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 dude just chill out, just having alittle fun! Quote
