bignate Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) ok, i posted a message on here before about my banshee not starting. i tried spraying carb cleaner around the intakes and the rpm's picked up which should mean an air leak so i bought new gaskets thinkin that was the problem. well, i put the gaskets in and it didn't start.... at all. i checked spark and did a compression test and both cylinders held at 122 psi. but that was then when the problem first occurred. i'm thinkin i might have to do it again. well, later i then tried to double up the gaskets and that still didn't work. i even tried putting the stock intakes back on just incase if the billet intakes were bad and that didn't work. i'm sure this isn't a good thing to do but i put a very little bit of gas in the cylinders and tried to fire it up and it did but only for a second and the rpm's were kinda high and then it just shut off right away and it still won't start. my mods to the engine are billet intakes, v-force 3, advanced timing 4 degrees, twist throttle and removed the torrs, k&n airfilters and pre-filters, toomey t5's. the only mods that were done to the engine when i bought it was the t5's and jetting. the jetting can't be off cuz i rode it for about 6 monts before i put it up for the winter. i'm new to the banshee even though i've had it for a little over a year so i don't have a clue as to how to fix this or what else could be wrong. fastrthnu Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 leave your bike OFF run and kick it over a couple times and see if your cylinders are getting gas. Tip of the plugs should be damp. Quote
woodro77 Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 you said last time you rode her was 6 months ago ? first check to make sure you are getting spark . sounds like you are , if it ran dumping gas into motor and it started . could be old gas , clogged jet , gummed up carbs , take the carbs off and clean them out , make sure all jets are clean , could also be choke crossover tube , (black tube that goes in between the 2 carbs ) make sure that is there. Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 it sounds like your carb is gummed up. pull your jets out ( main and pilot ) and clean them well. make sure you can see through them. this should get you started. Quote
400rednEX Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 mine wouldn't start this spring until i drained the carb and shook up the gas in the tank. it started and ran then, but i threw the old gas away and mixed up some fresh mix for it. Quote
