I am putting a new top end on my banshee. I measures the outside of the pistons and I got 63.72mm at the widest spot. Then I measured the inside of the cylinders and I got 63.92 at the widest spot. Is it even possible that these numbers are accurate becuase I thoguht the stock cylinders were 64mm? Also my banshee is on the stock bore.

I'd get a second opinion from a machine shop...

yeah I didn't mention that the tool is digital. I am just trying to figure out what pistons I need to order. .02 over are the smallest I have seen.

Will I be safe to just order .02 over pistons which are 64.5mm? The pistons I took out look realy nice and so do the cylinders or is impossible to tell by just looking at it?. I have never rebuilt a top end. I plan on ordering pistons then giving them and my cylinders to the shop so that they can bore it.

hey hollister you using calipers or are you using a dial bore gage on cylinders?

you cannot get a good true reading in a bore with dial calipers.

just fyi. take it to a shop and have them check it.

they should have a master ring gage to check setting of dial bore gage.

you have a true reading because of the way the pads are spread on a dial bore gage

digital dial calipers cannot get down into the bore.

Yep!!

If it ran fine, and there is no scarring or knicks on the cylinders...get .020 pistons. Magic has a great price on pistons, all gaskets, rings, wrist pins and the give you free wrist pin bearings.

Here ya go...
