Hollister_Hitman Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 I am putting a new top end on my banshee. I measures the outside of the pistons and I got 63.72mm at the widest spot. Then I measured the inside of the cylinders and I got 63.92 at the widest spot. Is it even possible that these numbers are accurate becuase I thoguht the stock cylinders were 64mm? Also my banshee is on the stock bore. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 I'd get a second opinion from a machine shop... Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) I'd get a second opinion from a machine shop... yeah I didn't mention that the tool is digital. I am just trying to figure out what pistons I need to order. .02 over are the smallest I have seen. Will I be safe to just order .02 over pistons which are 64.5mm? The pistons I took out look realy nice and so do the cylinders or is impossible to tell by just looking at it?. I have never rebuilt a top end. I plan on ordering pistons then giving them and my cylinders to the shop so that they can bore it. Edited February 19, 2007 by Hollister_Hitman Quote
JET 99 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 hey hollister you using calipers or are you using a dial bore gage on cylinders? you cannot get a good true reading in a bore with dial calipers. just fyi. take it to a shop and have them check it. they should have a master ring gage to check setting of dial bore gage. you have a true reading because of the way the pads are spread on a dial bore gage digital dial calipers cannot get down into the bore. Quote
