how to get a smoother shifting tranny

Well, today i was riding my Banshee and it really dawns on me that the tranny doesnt shift as smooth as my yz125. Is there a way to make the banshee transmition shift better? My yz's is like butter and the shee is far from that. My shee isnt broken or anything, but i just wish it shifted better. ::

umm one u buy one a modded shift start and two but some spring from casscade that will make it ship smoother

I have heard a lot of good things about the Shift Star mod, which you can do yourself or order an already moded one from F.A.S.T Racing.

Another mod I saw which claims improved shifting is the Shift Shaft Mod and Easy Spring Which F.A.S.T Racing also sells.

I bet if you did both it would shift a lot better. Has anyone done the Shift Shaft Mod and Easy Spring? If so how well did it work?

I run both of those mods with rz forks,a yakey(sp) drum+every other engagement cog ground off the gears.The forks have true roller tips+the drum also has an additional bearing on the end of it.This was a huge improvement over the stock set up.

i ran RZ forks and drum, a modded star, and had half the engaging dogs milled off the gears. The throw was still a mile long, but it was quite a bit smoother. Still not close to a bike with a good transmision.

Also, the modded shift shaft and sping is $25. Does that include a brand new already modded shaft and sping or that price is if i send them my shaft?

 

oh yeah....the throw is still rather long too on the shee. Ah well, i guess it's the price you have to pay for having one. :biggrin:

I have a shift star mod and one of the Pro Shift Kits form ebay on both my Banshees. They both shift like butter.

First thing I would do is change the fluid. Belray gear saver and royal purple syncromax work pretty good.

no you have to send him yours,if the shaft is bad he can sell you a new one.
