alright hey boys, you dialed in my old setup.... how bout this one...

trinity iv pipes

4mil longrod stroker w all the internal mods...

noss head 20cc's

+4 timing

airbox, k&n no lid

33mm pwks

v3's

f.a.s.t. dune/play port

i have 55 pilots in, and 165 mains... CGL needle on the middle clip... seems to piss and sputter til about mid power..... so that makes me wonder if the pilot is too fat... seems like thats the case, like its drinking too much on the bottom...

my alt. is 1200-1400ft

the temp is about 20* outside right now... any suggestions?

CEL needle.

48 pilot.

150 to 155 main.

Probably still rich...but, better safe than sorry. You're running an airbox....so, not flowing as much as clamp ons. But, it's cold too...

See what Jeff Says about your jetting...it's his port job.

Could be fat or lean not sure. How does it idle and any problems when you rev it in neutral with the rpm's dropping back down to normal idle? Any hang in the upper rpm's before dropping? You should be close but that is some cold air so I'm swayed to more of a lean condition. I had to run a 58 pilot in the cub for temps that low.

He has OEM cylinders....Brad.

actually in neutral it hangs a bit before it comes down.... whats that telling ya? air leak i bet. i hope not. jeff said i should try these jets/needle... but he seemed kinda rushed at the shop when i talked to him... but it seems to idle just fine.... except that neutral hang when i rev it though...

Yea your lean, go up a size on your pilots (58)

Dave, I ran the same jetting specs with my cub as my oem cylinders. I didn't change anything but cylinders and Nick has almost my exact set-up.

Good to know, Brad...just didn't know if you missed it or not.

In my experience...a cub likes a leaner pilot but fatter main than the OEM ported cylinders.

But...he's got an air box and it's 20 degrees out, so...they sort of cancel each other out.

If you have 55 pilots in there now, try turning the air screws all the way in. Turn each one out 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

If this solves the "hanging idle" and makes off idle response better...yeah, fatter pilot.

Also, make sure you throttle cable/throttle housing is lubed and kink free...just to be sure!!

I'd take it for a ride under load though...free revving in nuetral/clutch pulled in is not the way to adjust the carbs, the bike needs to be loaded up....or under load I should say...

Good luck!!

well i took it out for a little rip... nothing major... just in 1-2-3 gears... in a snowy parking lot... it seemed to sputter until about 1/4+throttle then it would just rip and launch and roost like nuts....

i looked at the air screws... they were 1.5 out... so i turned them to 1/4 out... ill kick it over in a few minutes... and now im seriously thinking about some pod filters.. i moved the airbox back and the uup boots dont quite reach and its rigged pretty badly... and im tired of pissing with it.

alright... took it 1/4 out... kicked it... let it warm up... took it out... spit and sputtered... fell on its face... then power died... and i thought, oh shit. stupid me. i forgot to change my plugs after my heat cycles and such... swapped plugs... shee rips so hard now. thanks boys

oh the bottom end before power hits, its still seems sputtery.... like how the bike would run if you jumped on it when it was cold and tried to run it... you know the feeling... youve all done it.... thats how my shee acts until power hits... wtf. maybe i need new fresh gas.. its been a while since i put some in... but would it make that big of a dif if its only been like 3mths?

Try this setup

162 mains

45 pilot

needle 3rd clip

You should be almost spot on, your revs can also be hanging because your idle is most likely set very high to keep the shee idling w/ such a rich mixture, but as the mixture builds in the bottom end, it idles down from being too rich. Also make sure your cables aren't kinked under the tank.
